Are you getting Too Much Fish Oil?
I think it is just wonderful that so many people have taken note of the many benefits omega 3 fatty acids provide, but some people may be getting too much fish oil each day. Although generally safe for you to use, even such beneficial nutrients as omega 3s pose a danger when high dosages are consumed. You have to be careful in what you are doing.
We have a tendency to think that if a little bit of something is good for you, then more will definitely give you better results. How many times have people been forced to take time off from exercising, because they simply pushed themselves harder than they should have and ended up being injured? The nutritional supplements you take can also cause injury if abused.

Mild overdoses can cause simple stomach discomfort, which can be alleviated by simply decreasing the amount of fish oil you are taking. Severe overdoses can cause you to develop gastrointestinal bleeding, and bleeding in your brain. Both of these reactions require immediate medical attention, as you can probably imagine.
In order to avoid the negative consequences of taking too much fish oil, stick to 2,000 to 4,000 milligrams per day. You will still get all of the preventative benefits to significantly lower your risk of developing cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, adult onset non-insulin dependent diabetes, and arthritis through these more reasonable doses.
The bottom line is too much fish oil, like anything else, can harm you. When taken responsibly a high quality fish oil supplement can do wonders for your health, so don’t be deterred by the possibility of having a reaction. You can’t let all of the benefits of fish oil slip through your fingers, because the benefits you can enjoy are simply too great.
